Rinse off the poo, fold back the velcro onto the washing tabs, pull the inserts out if it's a pocket nappy, throw it in a dry nappy bucket until washing day.
Load the machine, use 1/2 the usual amount of detergent
Wash on cold, warm, or hot, whatever your personal preference
Hang to dry lining side towards the sun.
Tumble dry if you must, but it's not the most environmentally friendly or cost effective option
There is no need for soaking, or using harsh bleaches
or a lot of detergent. The Sun will take care of any stains, and sanitise your nappies, another great reason to line dry. On a cold/rainy days I hang my nappies on a tall clothes horse in front of a window that gets a lot of light, when the sun is out I just move the clothes horse outside.
Do not use fabric softeners, as this will cause a build up on your nappies and make them less absorbent.
If your nappies feel stiff or crunchy, you can rough them up a bit, or stick them in the drier for 10~30 mins to start or finish the drying process. But I'm sure your baby won't mind a crunchy nappy :)
